About me

A statistician.
A curious researcher.

I’m Gayathry, a statistician and researcher from Kerala, India. I use computational statistics and data science to make sense of complex health and environmental data. I’m interested in how infections spread, how patterns change over time and across places, and how we can use that understanding to support better health decisions.

My background is in mathematics and statistics, and my research has taken me from studying climate and COVID-19 to influenza forecasting and clinical risk prediction. Working with Python and R, I bring statistical models together with machine learning, deep learning, and natural language processing. I care about building models whose predictions we can understand, including how much uncertainty comes with them.

I’m especially drawn to hybrid statistical–AI approaches that combine what we know about a system with what we can learn from its data. My work brings hierarchical, spatio-temporal, and forecasting methods into that mix. I’m currently a Project Research Associate at the Bagchi School of Public Health, Ahmedabad University, studying how migration shapes measles transmission.

I’m an active PhD aspirant seeking fully funded research projects where I can keep developing these ideas. I’m always glad to connect with people asking similar questions about health, data, and uncertainty.
